Let us no longer mince words - by Anthony Smith

The following was posted by a friend of mine today. I respect him enough that I want to be able to read this in five and ten years -- and until my final days. He has helped form me, mostly from a distance, with his wisdom and thoughtfulness, his passion for life, and his challenge to me to see the world differently. I embrace this post with all of my being.

My friend is Anthony Smith, and you can find him here: https://www.facebook.com/anthony.smith.372

Now for the important part of this post -- which is entirely not mine...

Let us no longer mince words.

Under the surface this was never fully about moral purity, family values, a Christian worldview nor about returning this culture ‘back’ to God.

No, this has been and is about nativism, ideology, raw unadulterated political power and cultural dominance.

The idols have been exposed and they are very seductive.

May we have eyes to see and ears to hear.

All of this is reminiscent of an ancient scene:

“Again, the devil took him [Jesus] to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ””‭‭- Matthew‬ ‭4:8-10‬ ‭
