I just read something online where someone wrote: "The gospel has nothing to do with immigration. It's about individual salvation." Hmmm... IF the gospel has nothing to say about significant social issues AND if it has nothign to do with how we treat our neighbor, then... it has NO value for this life other than excaping to the next life. IF this is the way that we treat the gospel message, it is no wonder that Christians continue to fight with one another. It's just a matter of how we understand the excape route. Then, is it a wonder that the world has little use for our message? I'm increasingly believing that we have really messed up the message of Jesus... Either we believe that Jesus said that the kingdom is at hand now, or we don't believe Jesus at all.
