Supreme Court nominee

Sigh... this isn't a convervative or liberal thing. It's a kingdom thing. Why did Bush need to nominate a white male? That may seem silly. He's conservative. He's pro-life (or at least anti-abortion). He has integrity. These may all be good things, but... If we are people who affirm the reality of the kingdom of God, then don't we want all of our public instituions to also be representavive of God's people. I am not affirming that America is a Christian nation, but Bush is a Christian guy. Wouldn't a minority or female more accurately represent our people? I'm angry. I'm sad, and I'm seriously disappointed.

Okay, I'll bite...
I may take some heat for this position, but I can't say that I agree with you 100% on this one.

I DO agree that our government, our institutions, our churches, etc. need to more accurately reflect the diversity of the American population.

I DO NOT agree that the President should make his nomination for a Supreme Court justice based on ethnicity, gender or any other external characteristics.

I would hope (and I know this isn't exactly realistic) that the decision would be made SOLELY on the person's qualifications to do the job.

I think it would be good for our country to see more diversity on the highest court. I can't say that I'm sad or angry about the President's nominee. I hope he simply chose the most qualified person for the job.
